    Policy for checking out books:

    Kindergarten checks out 1 book at any given time.              

    1st Grade checks out 1 book from September; starting in October they will be able to check out 2 books at any given time;

    1 Leveled Reader & 1 book of their choice.

    2nd Grade checks out 2 books at any given time; only 1 Graphic Novel (GNOV) out at a time.   

    3rd Grade checks out 3 books at any given time; only 2 Graphic Novels (GNOV) out at a time.

    4th Grade checks out 4 books at any given time; only 2 Graphic Novels (GNOV) out at a time.

    5th Grade checks out 5 books at any given time; only 2 Graphic Novels (GNOV) out at a time.

     

    Procedures for returning books:

    1. Students can return books to their classroom return bin/cart, which is brought to the Library on the morning of their class library day.
    2. Students can return books to the "Return Book Bin" located in the Library.

     

    Procedures and Policies for dealing with late, missing, or damaged books:

    1. Students are verbally reminded of which books they have checked out.
    2. Students are only allowed the number of books allotted for their grade level to be checked out at any given time (i.e. 2nd grade is only allowed 2 books checked out at any given time).
    3. Parents are automatically emailed 3 days before books are due (via District email).
    4. Parents are automatically emailed daily (when applicable) Two Weeks Overdue Notice (via District email).
    5. Parents are automatically emailed daily (when applicable) Four Weeks Overdue Notice (via District email).
    6. Late notices and Fine Notices will be sent home (via backpack) 3-4 times throughout the year.
    7. If a book is lost or damaged, student will be charged for a replacement book and parents will be emailed. Parents can pay replacement fee, replace book with another book of the same genre, or have students work off the replacement fee (this needs to have written permission from parents before students can work off fines).
