    Parents play a key role in Emerson's school community, and families come from all quadrants of the city, creating a school culture that integrates, honors, and celebrates individual and community diversity. The integrated curriculum is developed to continually build on students' previous learning and experiences in a strong supportive community. Real-world problem solving, purposeful field studies, and student interest are combined with direct instruction in reading, writing, and math to create a strong and comprehensive curriculum.
