Wrap-Around Support

  • At the Reconnection Center, our work is based in healing-centered engagement with our students, acknowledging that school has likely not been a positive experience for our students. We provide wrap-around support through our student support team of social workers and our school counselor.

Our social worker Emily Etzkorn (bio), work with students to meet basic needs like food, clothing and shelter while also linking them to mental health support both at school and in the community.

Our school counselor, Lance Shipley (bio) helps students identify academic goals and monitors academic progress, while also connecting with students and families/guardians/case managers to make sure they are aware of the students’ academic goals as they progress through the Reconnections Center.

Every student at the RC has an assigned Outreach Coordinator (bio)  who will help them navigate their school choices and find the best school choice for them after they transition out of the Reconnection Center.

Our student support team regularly offers support groups and individual counseling for students. Topics include stress and anxiety management, affinity groups, and LGBTQI plus alliance. The Reconnection Center also runs a clothing closet, a food pantry and a study space for students who need a quiet place to study or take a break when they are not in class.
