2019-20 The garden got a major upgrade in 2019 due to the interest of two neighbors, Grant and Devin. They created three ground-level garden rows, 4’ x 66’, and a 66’ row of raised beds with an ADA pathway on one side and two work tables. They installed a drip irrigation system for all of this. Eight blueberry bushes were planted in one of the rows, and the rest became a very productive vegetable growing operation as COVID closed the school. Grant and Devin ran the garden through the COVID closure, providing produce for families at the monthly food distribution.

2020-22: By mid-2021, the neighbor farmers moved away to start a full-fledged farm in Washington.
October 2022:
2022-23: With the help of an avid volunteer, the Garden Club was formed, the beds were cleared of weeds, the pathways were covered with bark chips, and classes began planting. We received a $3,500 grant from Growing Gardens, which supplied us with organic compost, plant starts, seed starting supplies, and added tools. Every class participated in a garden lesson once or twice during the year, children began visiting during recess, and the after school program used the garden for lessons and cooking projects. When available, we supplemented our monthly food distribution with garden produce and gave produce to families at pick-up time.
