CTE Student Advisory Council Sub- Committees
CTE Enrollment Sub-Committee
As the enrollment subcommittee, we will work to inform all grades about CTE classes and opportunities, as well as expand CTE classes' connection to schools and communities. We plan to motivate students and connect the current curriculum to graduation requirements, as well as create opportunities for students in advanced classes to involve themselves in recruitment. Our goal as a subcommittee is to increase awareness, enrollment, and general interest in CTE, and to show how rewarding CTE is both academically and personally.
CTE Curriculum Sub-Committee
CTE curriculum has not only allowed students to learn through experience by forming new skills in areas they are unfamiliar with but also gives them the tools to pursue similar interests after high school. That being said, CTE students have expressed struggle with these courses' pace, irregularity, and improper teaching. To better the CTE program as a whole. we believe that more teachers with experience in the field and the curriculum should be encouraged, and more outside resources such as involvement in the field and funding may be more readily available.
Career Connected Learning Sub-Committee
CTE classes and learning experiences provide students with a safe space where they can learn and explore things they are passionate about. For some, CTE classes are more than a class, they allow students to pursue their passions. They also allow students to think about paths other than the traditional college route. Every student should have access to this feeling. While not everyone can be in a CTE class, everyone should have access to career learning opportunities. Unfortunately, many people don’t know about these opportunities or do not have access to them due to opportunities being limited to members of certain classes only. We want career learning opportunities to be available to all, so all students can find their safe space and their passions.
