Then you and your team will prepare a 8-9 minute presentation with visuals aids to showcase your biome. To learn about your biome you will do the following activities: Together, as a team, watch a video with the rest of the class listening especially for information about your own biome. You should also listen to see how your biome compares with other biomes. What makes your biome unique? Read a description of your biome in chapter 22 of BSCS and chapter 50 of the Campbell textbook (chapter 52 if using textbook from home). Divide the following tasks so that everyone has something of importance to do and so that everything gets done. Make a climatogram for your biome from the data in BSCS (may be in appendix or chapter). Seasons: What kinds of seasons does your biome experience? How does day length of your biome change throughout the year? How do the characteristics of the biome affect the light to the system, and vice versa? Why is light distribution and amount important? Diagram the water cycle and its reservoirs as it occurs in your biome. Make a map to show where in the world your biome is found. Make a list of the plants and animals typical of your biome. Describe important interactions. Diagram a possible food web. What organisms dominate your biome? Why do those specific organisms succeed in your biome? Describe some of their interesting adaptations. Describe one human threat to the habitat of your biome. Why should we care? Find images of your biome that can be used to help others understand your biomes community. Submit two quiz (multiple choice or short answer) questions and their answers about your biome to Ms. Raczek by __________________________. Organize the presentation and your visual aids so that all the material gets covered and everyone equally participates in the presentation. You may make posters, create a power point presentation, or both. If you are creating a power point, be sure that the slides contain only images/diagrams and very limited text. You may use index cards to help you present, but you should not be reading off slides. Submit a printed bibliography or include a slide with this information in the power point. Include citations for all photos used in your presentation. You will earn a grade for you work based on 1) your personal contribution to the project and 2) the quality of your teams project.
