Pape, Steve
Steve Pape is thrilled to return home to Lincoln where he taught 9th social studies and supported the counseling team with academic support five years ago. Throughout his 21 years in education in diverse settings (public, independent, urban, suburban, and international), Steve has learned a lot from the students and teachers he’s worked with about the importance of building strong and diverse school communities, the value of student voice, and factors that make excellent teaching and learning possible. He welcomes the opportunity to contribute his passions and insights from these experiences to support the belonging and success of all students within the rich traditions of Lincoln as it steps onto its new campus.
Steve brings 16 years of social studies classroom experience at Southridge High School in Beaverton, the International School of Prague, and Lusher Charter School in New Orleans. He also served as Vice Principal at Lusher and, over the past five years, as Assistant Head and Interim Head at Catlin Gabel Middle School. Having taught IB History, Economics, and Theory of Knowledge across 10 of those years, Steve appreciates the advantages IB can offer to all students and is eager to support Lincoln’s efforts to expand these opportunities for more students as a driver for equity. Most of all, he looks to lean on his strengths as an empathetic and responsive listener by deepening his awareness of stakeholder interest, community needs, and individual strengths as he relearns what it means (and could mean) to be a Cardinal.
By bringing his full self to work every day, Steve hopes to foster an inclusive community of learners, adults and students alike, who will contribute their voices, take risks, and support one another in co-creating the best education available in the region.
