About Glencoe Elementary School

  • Glencoe Elementary School was established in 1924. Glencoe is a thriving, inclusive neighborhood school that values caring, collaboration, and perseverance.

    • Glencoe has 14 classroom teachers, and a number of enrichment teachers and support staff, including:
      • PE teacher, Music teacher, Art teacher, & Library teacher
      • School counselors
      • Academic Interventionist, English Language Development teacher, Speech & Language Pathologist, Learning Center teacher, Para-educator, & School Psychologist
      • School Secretaries

    • Glencoe students receive enrichments including music, library, art, and PE
    • Glencoe students receive daily social-emotional learning lessons that focus on the following skills:
      • Practicing mindfulness
      • Using coping tools and strategies
      • Engaging in self-care and wellness
      • Practicing our school values
      • Community-building

    • Glencoe has an experienced staff, with an average of 17 years of teaching experience.

    • There are many opportunities for family involvement: school gardening projects, Oregon Battle of the Books, helping in the cafeteria or library, volunteering for field trips, and participating in school and PTA events.

    • Part of our focus on being an inclusive community includes supporting the development of affinity groups. In the 2022-23 school year, Glencoe started a Gender Sexuality Alliance facilitated by our school counselor, and also launched a Black Student Union in 2023. 

    • Glencoe students attend exciting field trips, ranging from exploring Bonneville Dam to attending music programs at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
