    èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening and Summer Scholars is èßäapp¹ÙÍø credit recovery program for high school students. 

     

    Both programs take place at Benson HS, Franklin HS, & Roosevelt HS.  Students from all over the èßäapp¹ÙÍø area can attend classes that occur outside of their regular class time. This allows students to continue taking classes at their day school while taking additional classes at Evening and Summer Scholars.

  • èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening & Summer Scholars Attendance Expectations

               Ã¨ßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars is not an online program. We have 13 classes to cover 18

               weeks worth of work.  Attendance is critical and expected. We do not have 'excused

               absences'.

     

    Absence 1: Classroom teacher contacts home.

    Absence 2: Classroom teacher contacts home.

    Absence 3: Students complete an Attendance Agreement with the site Administrator as well as communication home. 

    Absence 4: The students' participation in Evening Scholars will be considered and the Principal determines whether or not the student gets one last chance to remain enrolled. This will be based on grade level, grade in class, engagement in class, and follow through on Attendance Agreement. 

    Absence 5: Students will be unenrolled from PESS without exceptions.

     

     

  • èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars

    èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars is a high school credit recovery program for students who want to recover credit, improve a grade, or get ahead by earning original credit. All èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars classes are taught by highly qualified teachers, are required for graduation, and are NCAA approved.
     
     
    Here are some facts about the èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars program;
    • èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars has been serving èßäapp¹ÙÍø students since 1946. 
    • Priority for enrollment goes to students behind in credit needed for graduation.
    • Nearly 20% of the graduating class of 2023 received credit through Evening or Summer Scholars. 
    • Students from more than 20 high schools and community-based programs are served by èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening and Summer Scholars.
     
    Office Hours: 10:00 am - 8:30 pm Monday through Thursday 
     
     
    Inclement Weather:  In case of inclement weather, here is the general outline èßäapp¹ÙÍø Evening Scholars will follow:

    1. If èßäapp¹ÙÍø is closed for the day:  no PESS classes.

    2. If èßäapp¹ÙÍø closes early and cancels all evening events (basketball, choir, etc):  no PESS classes. 

    3. If èßäapp¹ÙÍø has a full day of classes but inclement weather is a possibility for the evening time:  a decision will be made by 3pm for PESS classes.

    4. If èßäapp¹ÙÍø has late opening:  we will have PESS classes.

    5. If èßäapp¹ÙÍø moves daytime classes to a virtual platform due to weather, PESS will do the same.  

            Here is how our office will communicate these decisions: 

    1. We will send out a SchoolMessenger to all students/parents informing them of what our plans are. 

    2. Administrator will send an all-staff email informing you what our plan is.  

    3. Our website will be updated with a banner along the top indicating our plan is.
