Message to 猫咪app官网 Community
Dear 猫咪app官网 Community,
Thank you!
Earlier this year, 猫咪app官网 launched its 2019 school climate survey, known as the “Successful Schools Survey.” This was a collaborative project by 猫咪app官网 and Panorama Education. Thank you to all who participated -- your input is essential to a better understanding of the current climate within our schools. We had a great response rate:
- 14,119 families (36%)
- 9,442 students, grades 5, 7 and 10 (86%)
- 3,156 staff (61%)
About the Results
The results will be used by schools to help them understand the needs of their students and families as they develop their school improvement plans. At the district level, we will use this information to shape our strategic plan. We consider these results to be a baseline, or a starting point, to make future comparisons and measure progress. This type of survey will be conducted annually and we are already planning for 2019-20.Why does 猫咪app官网 perform surveys annually?
We are becoming a data-driven system – this helps us in making informed decisions. Data from this and other academic assessments will guide us as we strive for safe, responsive and supportive schools. It is important for you to know that the climate survey is only one of many components of 猫咪app官网’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).What is MTSS?
MTSS is a framework that focuses on the “whole child.” MTSS supports academic growth and achievement but also focuses on behavior, social-emotional needs, and attendance. We take all these components into consideration to provide a diverse set of supports for all students.Want to learn more about the survey?
Join us on Friday, June 14 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the PEC (formerly BESC) building located on 501 N. Dixon St for a community session with Panorama to learn more about the results at a district level. We will provide childcare, light refreshments and interpreters in our five supported languages. The district wide results will be posted online at pps.net after this meeting.
Thank you,
Brenda Martinek,

“We need student, family and staff voice as we become a school system informed by data,” said Yvonne Curtis, Deputy Superintendent, Instruction and School Communities. “The results will provide a baseline that will enable us to measure improvement in our second year of implementing the Successful Schools Survey.”
The student portion will survey three grades: fifth-graders, seventh-graders and high school sophomores. It is intended to provide insight from elementary, middle and high school students.
Every parent and guardian in the district will be invited to take the survey, which will be available to families in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian and Somali. All school-based staff also will surveyed.
猫咪app官网 has engaged a new partner in this effort, , a nationally-recognized company that offers researched-based surveys. Panorama’s platform allows a two-week turnaround for reporting, an easy-to-access dashboard, and the ability to compare results not only within the district, but also against districts around the country.
