Mt. Scott Learning Center (MSLC) opened in 1994 and is a small, nonprofit options high school working to re-engage up to 140 students in grades 9-12 whose needs were not being met in a larger, traditional high school setting.

We believe our greatest strength is in the relationships we build--between teachers and students, between staff and families, and among the student body.  Our student body is a diverse community with unique learning needs and a wide variety of skills and challenges.  MSLC emphasizes the development of a small, successful community of learners based upon our four Core Values:  Healthy, Citizen, Prepared and Scholar.  Small class sizes and a cell-phone free environment allow relationships to flourish and community to develop naturally.  Staff develop challenging and engaging curriculum for all academic levels while focusing on and fostering specific skills needed to be a successful student.  Courses are offered in language arts, math, social studies, science, health and physical education, plus a variety of electives.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in monthly service learning activities as well as outdoor, cultural and educational experiences off campus.

Through the Transitions Department and our advisory class, MSLC provides extensive support, mentoring and resources to help students access educational and training beyond high school.  Staff are dedicated to engaging each student, helping them find educational and social success, and ultimately, earn a high school diploma and transition successfully into post-secondary education, training, or the workforce.
