Jefferson High School is part of the 6A-1 èßäapp¹ÙÍø Interscholastic League. Jefferson offers a wide variety of team sports, including baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, soccer, softball, swimming, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling.

Academic Requirements
-
Academic requirements are as follows and students who fail to meet any of these requirements are not eligible to participate in sports.

Students must have passed five classes in the previous semester.
-
Students must be enrolled and pass five classes in the current semester.
-
Students must make satisfactory progress toward graduation by earning the minimum number of credits:
-
4.5 credits by the start of 10th grade
-
10 credits by the start of 11th grade
-
17 credits by the start of 12th grade
-
In addition, students must have earned the following GPA in the previous quarter: 2.0 with no F's or 2.5 GPA with one F.
Students who do not meet this requirement may register and participate but will be placed on academic probation for the current quarter and must attend study sessions.

Attendance Process and Expectations
Daily Attendance Process:
-
Attendance reports are sent at 2:30 pm to all coaches.
-
Coaches will share with players their attendance.
-
Coaches will follow the attendance policy (policy below).

If a student questions the validity of the attendance:
-
The coach will contact the AD.
-
The AD will then investigate and decide.
-
The AD will share with the coach the decision.
-
NOTE: It is expected that the player or other players will not reach out to the teacher of record about the attendance concern after a decision has been made.
Attendance and Athletic Eligibility
A Student-athlete must attend school for the entire day of that practice or game.
-
One or more unexcused classes: LAT, CUT, or ABSENT - Student-athletes will not be allowed to participate that day.
-
Two excused classes - student-athletes will not be allowed to participate that day and will be directed to the Athletic Director.
Prearranged absences will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
How to Excuse an Absence
As a parent or guardian, you have several options to excuse your student's attendance:

Call 503-916-5180 Option 2 (please leave a message if it goes to voicemail); The office checks voicemail for the last time at 3:30 daily

If your student has a medical appointment, have reception print out an attendance note

Excuse all day absences on ParentVue
An absence may be excused if the absence is caused by:

Family emergency
-
Family illness
-
Pre-arranged appointments

Student illness, including mental or behavioral health
As a student:

Check your attendance in StudentVue often during the day. If you believe your attendance is incorrect, check with your classroom teachers first and have them email the office if you need a correction.

If you are going to an appointment, have the desk receptionist at the appointment print an attendance note and turn it into the office.

Ask your parent/guardian to call the office and leave a message to excuse qualifying absences
-
Students may not excuse their attendance, even if the student is 18 years old.

The mission of our High School Athletics is to promote participation and sportsmanship through a competitive interscholastic athletic program.
Every athlete is provided with opportunities, positive recognition, and learning experiences that support and maximize the academic goals of our high school.

Event Admission Information

EVENT ADMISSION: Admission to basketball and wrestling will be charged. Tickets can be purchased at the door or pre-purchased online before the event.
PIL Single Game Ticket Prices -
- Adults - $7.00
- Students/Senior Citizens - $5.00
- Elementary students - Free
Outside Food: Outside food and drink are not allowed in our athletic contests.
No Re-Entry: Once a person enters a game, they are not allowed to leave the event and then return. This policy is for both students and adults.
Spectator Conduct: We cheer for our athletes, support our coaches, stay off the referees, and respect our opponents. Anyone unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the gym or field.
